Build a Legacy of Protection: Support the Resilience and Protection Waqf Fund

The Islamic Shura Council of Southern California proudly endorses the  Resilience and Protection Waqf Fund , a historic initiative of the  North American Islamic Trust  (NAIT) to protect our Masajid, Islamic institutions, and Muslim communities through a permanent, Shariah-compliant endowment, says a Shura Council message. It adds:

We encourage every Masjid and Islamic institution to actively  support this campaign . Your contribution is more than a donation, it is a Sadaqah Jariyah (continuous charity) that will strengthen mosque security, combat Islamophobia through education and legal advocacy, support vulnerable institutions, and provide emergency assistance to victims of hate and violence for generations to come.

This noble initiative is dedicated to the memory of the martyrs of the Islamic Center of San Diego  (ICSD), whose sacrifice reminds us of our collective responsibility to protect our houses of worship and the communities they serve.

To launch this historic effort,  NAIT is matching every dollar  up to $1,000,000 (One Million Dollars), doubling the impact of every

Why This Fund Is Needed

The terrorist attack on the Islamic Center of San Diego on May 18 was another painful reminder that anti-Muslim hatred remains a serious threat. In 2025, the  Council on American-Islamic Relations  (CAIR)  documented 8,658  anti-Muslim discrimination and civil rights complaints, the highest number ever recorded.  FBI hate crime statistics  also continue to report hundreds of anti-Muslim hate crime incidents each year, including assaults, intimidation, and attacks on religious institutions.

What Your Investment Will Support

Unlike traditional fundraising campaigns, this perpetual Waqf preserves its principal while using only its investment earnings to provide continuous support in three critical areas:

  • Masjid Protection: Security enhancements, training, grant assistance, and emergency preparedness.
  • Community Resilience: Strengthening Islamic institutions and combating Islamophobia through education, outreach, and legal advocacy.
  • Emergency Response: Providing immediate financial assistance to victims and helping communities recover after acts of hate and violence.

A Perpetual Legacy

This irrevocable preserves its principal while using only its investment earnings to fund these vital programs, ensuring your generosity continues to benefit the Ummah for generations.

  • Donate $10,000 or more on behalf of your institution to NAIT.
  • Host a Khutbah and fundraising campaign.
  • Reserve a Ramadan fundraising slot.
  • Share this initiative with your board, community leaders, and major donors.

Together, let us transform tragedy into resilience, fear into strength, and generosity into a perpetual legacy of protection. For more information or helping your center to raise fund, please contact NAIT at (630) 789-0253.
