Community Shows Support for Bushra Amiwala’s Election Campaign for Illinois 9 th District

Dr Safdar Chaudhary and Mrs Zahida Chaudhary recently hosted a fundraising function at their residence in support of Bushra Amiwala, who is running for Congress in Illinois’ 9th District. The event was attended by prominent community leaders who came in large numbers to show support for Amiwala and her campaign.

In his brief remarks on the occasion Dr Safdar Chaudhary emphasized the importance of political activism and civic engagement and urged the attendees to actively support Bushra Amiwala’s campaign through financial contributions and grassroots involvement.

Bushra Amiwala shared a brief overview of her family background, education, and early political journey. A dedicated public servant and history-maker, Amiwala is a Chicago-born daughter of Pakistani immigrants who began her leadership journey at age 19 years by launching a historic campaign for the Cook County Board of Commissioners to address underrepresentation in local government. In 2019, she was elected to the Skokie School Board, becoming the youngest Muslim official in the United States and the first Gen Z woman to hold such a position.

During her tenure on the school board, Amiwala has been a strong advocate for equity and inclusive education, successfully championing curricula that recognize and honor the contributions of religious minorities. Her academic and professional accomplishments include earning an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and serving as a consultant at Google. Her commitment to public service and civic leadership has been widely recognized, earning her a place on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list and a cover feature in TIME magazine.

The event concluded with an engaging question and answer session, during which Bushra Amiwala addressed a range of topics and responded thoughtfully to questions from attendees.
