FOP Welcomes Iftikhar’s Reinstatement

The Friends of Pakistan (FOP) has welcomed the restoration of Mr. Iftikhar Mohamamd Chaudry as the Chief Justice of Pakistan and congratulated the nation, lawyers, members of civil society, human rights organizations and political parties “who participated in a historical long march in which thousands of ordinary citizens came out and raised their voice to restore the chief justice of Pakistan and other judges. “These were historical moments in the history of Pakistan,” says a press release issued by the organization. It adds: 
“The leadership of Mian Nawaz Sharif impresses overseas Pakistanis. He stayed firm in his stance with Ch. Aitzaz Ahsan and other leaders of lawyers and political parties.
“We also congratulate prime minister Mr. Yousuf Raza Gillani who made this crucial task possible with others and captured the moment.”
Mr Sarfaraz Khan, Chairman, Friends of Pakistan, said overseas Pakistanis hope “justice will be in the reach of the poor people of Pakistan as we believe an independent judiciary is the only solution for prosperity in Pakistan.”
