On February 21, Faruk and Yasmeen Zia celebrated the Aameen ceremony (first completion of the reading of the Holy Qur'an) of their seven-year-old son, Ali. Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi, Director of the Islamic Society of Orange County , observed Ali's recitation and offered prayers.
Fareed Farukhi, Ali's uncle, expressed the family's appreciation to Hafiz Naveed and sister Ibtesam for helping Ali with beginning the Qur’an , and also acknowledged the role of his mother and her efforts in teaching the Qur’an at home from the beginning to the end. Ali's recitation, tajweed and pronunciation were admired by the guests.
At the ceremony, Faruk shared a heartwarming story . While planning
this event, the topic of orphans came up. Ali told his parents to donate all of his gifts to orphans. His parents appreciated this noble gesture and they attributed his thinking to the Islamic culture and teachings at the Orange Crescent School , where Ali currently studies and all three of his elder sisters have studied The whole family is very proud of OCS and its committed teachers and principal who make a profound difference in the lives of the students. For the Zia family, OCS has admirably imparted the children with Islamic and traditional education; their eldest daughter, a graduate of OCS, is now a pre-law student at the USC.
Ali's own desire to donate the gifts indicates that he too is treading the path of righteousness for future success.
To help fulfill Ali's wish, his parents and grandmothers decided
to suggest to all the guests to consider donating to the IEWS that is operating as SABA Home in Islamabad , Pakistan . This organization is lead by Saghir and Bushra Aslam.
They moved to Islamabad from California , where they have built a special home and have nearly a dozen orphan girls residing with them. Bushra Aslam calls these girls her own daughters and not orphans. The Aslams want to raise them as their own and offer all amenities that a child expects from her parents at home.
Faruk and Yasmeen said, "We thought by supporting this organization, we might help ease some of the financial burden for Saghir and Bushra Aslam. Such a noble undertaking and responsibility to raise young girls is not easy. Our family extends its prayers for the Aslam family and encourages the rest of the community to support the young girls and help them grow up with dignity and love".
