“The friends of Imran Khan Cancer Appeal are proud to announce a Fundraising Gala dinner for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital and Research Center on Friday, May 20, 2005. The electrifying new band from Pakistan, “Fuzon,” and the ever so green Omar Sharif will be accompanying Imran Khan in hosting the event of the year,” says a press release.
It adds: “Over the past decade, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital and Research Center has established itself as a center of excellence in providing comprehensive care, free of cost to thousands of indigent cancer patients. This pioneering, state-of-the-art hospital, located in the heart of Punjab, was founded by Imran Khan, one of Pakistan’s most illustrious cricketers. As a charitable institute, it is funded predominantly by the donations of friends and well wishers from around the country and across the world.
“Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital and Research Center has now also announced the launching of a second hospital in Karachi.
